How it works

A clear process, from first sketch to final install.

Custom work shouldn't feel uncertain. Here's exactly what happens after you reach out.

I

Consultation

We talk through the space, how you use it, and what you're picturing. We'll visit, measure, and listen.

II

Design & proposal

You receive drawings, material samples, and a fixed price — so there are no surprises later.

The build

Your piece is built by hand in our Madison shop, with photo updates as the work takes shape.

6–10 weeks
IV

Installation

We install everything ourselves — scribed to your walls, finished in place, cleaned up completely.

1–3 days

A note on budget — built-in projects typically begin around $8,500, and full kitchens around $30,000. If that's in range, the consultation is free and there's no obligation.

The shop

No CNC. No production line. Just handwork.

Pipermade is a small Madison workshop led by Luke Piper, working alongside Tyler. What began as building furniture on nights and weekends is now a full-time practice devoted to cabinetry, built-ins, and furniture.

There's no automation in our shop. Every dovetail, mortise, and edge profile is done individually — the way this work was done when it was built to last a century. The people who measure your room are the same ones building the piece and standing in your home on install day.
